  • Alright... I was reading tarvin's story and was hit with sudden inspiration for one of my own, and I'm bored and so I'm going to post it. I haven't revised it or anything, so you're just going to have to deal with it, because I'm lazy. So it may not be my best writing. You have been warned.

It was a dark night… the kind where the wind is whistling through the trees and rain is pelting the windows. The kind of night where lightening spears through the sky and the air is alive with a thrumming energy…  It was the kind of night full of potential. Where anything can happen. The kind of night that has become an overused cliché. You know the night I’m talking about? That’s the night that it all began…

I know what you may be thinking… there was a murder, or the power cut out and I was sucked into another dimension full of demons and creatures from your darkest nightmares, and on a night such as this one, I can understand why you would jump to these conclusion. However… hear me out.

I was sitting my living room, attempting to watch TV. The power kept on flickering though, and so thwarted I turned it off and rolled onto my back in order to stare blankly up at the ceiling. It was at this moment that a particularly violent roll of thunder rent the air, and a peculiar noise caught my attention. A feeble scratching, followed by a high keening noise, rather like something crying. In fact… it sounded like an infant…

At this time, I sat up in alarm, stories of a serial killer that lured his victims out by playing a recording of a baby crying running through my head. I was torn. What if it was a serial killer? Then again, what if it was a case of somebody dumping their child on my doorstep and leaving. What if it was the next Harry Potter?! If I just left him out there all alone then he would die, and Voldemort would take over because there would be no Harry Potter to challenge him! With this thought, I decided to go rescue the infant Harry Potter and raise him in a happy home.

Just so you know, I’m not completely senseless or psycho. I carefully eased the door open and peered through a slim crack into the darkness of my porch. I was able to discern a slight bulge… opening the door further, I squinted at this foreign object, and nearly died of a heart attack as a flash of lightening illuminated everything. With a scream of horror, I slammed the door shut and braced it with my back, breath coming out in ragged gasps. It was hideous! It was the spawn of Lord Voldemort, the pet of Lord Sauron, the soul of Darth Vader… bundled into the general shape and form of… a kitty?

Frowning, I pulled the door open again and was greeted by a pathetic mewling. Although it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen, I was still affected by a case of the gushiness.

“Oh, you poor baby!” Without a second thought, I swept the completely drenched rat, er… kitten, up into my arms and brought it inside. “Aren’t you just so adorable!” No, it was hideous. “You’re such a handsome kitty. Yes you are..” and I dissolved into a fit of baby noises.

And, that's where I'm going to stop because that's all I've written. So I will leave you in suspense! (yeah, right)

Now, I am off to bed. Good night to you all.
